From the banks of the Severn River, this scene unfolded as the clouds gathered over Annapolis before a summer storm. This pastel captures the thick clouds and frothy tide.
Our family has had a cottage on the banks of the Chesapeake for almost 100 years. On a clear day, we can see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Tilghman Island and Holland Point as we watch the barges drift to or from Baltimore. This pastel painting was made from a photo I took from our deck of an October sunset, and my family recognized our view instantly.
